MASHANTUCKET, CT (JUNE 3, 2025) – Foxwoods Resort Casino, North America’s premier resort destination, proudly announces the official grand opening of Momosan by Chef Masaharu Morimoto, on Thursday, June 26, 2025. Momosan at Foxwoods introduces a bold new hybrid concept for Chef Morimoto, blending casual ramen and izakaya-style dining with his most expansive sushi program to date. Located in Foxwoods' vibrant Great Cedar Concourse, the 145-seat restaurant promises a dining experience like no other. This elevated yet casual dining experience is crafted to captivate both food lovers and ramen enthusiasts, combining bold, comforting flavors with creative culinary expertise and artistry. Inspired by the inviting warmth of Japanese Izakayas and the vibrant energy of resort life, Momosan at Foxwoods is designed for every type of guest. Whether it’s quick pre-show Ramen, a lively gathering over sake and sticky ribs, or a special celebration featuring sushi and fine whisky, every experience is carefully crafted. The space features manga murals, stunning wood finishes, and a lively open kitchen. The name "Momosan," a nod to Chef Morimoto’s personal nickname, reflects this concept's approachable, laid-back vibe.
“I’m incredibly proud to introduce Momosan to Foxwoods Resort Casino, bringing the first concept at Foxwoods to offer the casual Ramen and Izakaya offerings along with our sushi program,” said Chef Masaharu Morimoto. “This concept is deeply personal to me as it shows Japanese cuisine's innovation and soul. At Momosan, every dish is carefully crafted to be comforting, with careful attention to detail, ensuring a memorable dining experience. Partnering with Foxwoods, a destination that shares our dedication to culinary creativity and hospitality, allows us to deliver something extraordinary to the Foxwoods guest.”
Chef Morimoto’s signature precision and playfulness come to life across a menu anchored in three core pillars:
- Ramen, including a velvety chicken paitan, rich 14-hour tonkotsu, and spicy tan-tan with miso pork
- Roast Duck, Chef’s style Peking Duck as it’s own standalone course.
- Small plates made for sharing—like karaage fried chicken, soft-shell crab bao, duck tacos wrapped in crispy gyoza skin, and double fried sticky ribs.
A curated sushi selection rounds out the experience, complimented by chef-driven plates such as poke don and hot oil fish carpaccio, making every visit feel like a culinary discovery. Momosan at Foxwoods marks the restaurant concept's most expansive sushi menu.
Momosan’s cocktail program is as thoughtfully crafted as the food, designed to complement the cuisine's bold flavors, offering a mix of bright, refreshing, and unexpected options. Highlights include:
- Spiced Car – Toki, yuzu juice, honey and Japanese spices
- Lychee Martini – made with Tito’s and lychee liqueur
- Karai Rum – mango chili rum meets hibiscus and Morimoto Junmai sake
- A wide selection of Japanese whiskies and house sake curated by the chef himself
Guests can also enjoy sake sangria by the carafe, refreshing mocktails, and a robust selection of Japanese whiskey, premium sake, and international spirits.
The debut of Momosan adds to Foxwoods’ impressive roster of star-powered culinary attractions. Recent highlights include Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen and Grace By Nia—the resort’s first Black woman-owned speakeasy-style supper club. Looking ahead, Foxwoods will raise the bar further with the East Coast debut of The Bedford by Martha Stewart, offering a rustic yet refined concept inspired by Stewart’s signature hospitality and timeless design.
The celebration promises to deliver more than just extraordinary cuisine. Attendees can look forward to an unforgettable experience, highlighted by a live demonstration from professional sumo wrestlers and the ceremonial breaking of a sake barrel – cherished traditions brimming with cultural significance. Adding to the excitement, the grand opening will unveil the exclusive “Ramen & Sumo” event, an extraordinary collaboration between Foxwoods Resort Casino and Momosan Foxwoods, set to take place at Foxwoods Resort Casino on November 15.
